The Variable Valve Timing (VVT) Solenoid manages valve lift timing & oil flow within specified engine rev speeds and loads. When VVT solenoids are running normal, engine performance and fuel efficiency is optimized in all RPM ranges. A failed VVT sensor will cause intake & exhaust valves to open/close during improper times, which results in major reduced fuel economy.
