Advance Adapter

This kit will adapt a TH400 2WD automatic to the GM NP205 transfer case and only be used when replacing a SM465 4 speed manual or a TH350 automatic transmission. The kit includes a new TH400 to NP205 adapter, linkage rod, bracket, NP205 input gear with 32 internal spline, brake yoke, soft plug, bearing, snap ring, NP205 gasket, adapter seal, fastening hardware and adapter instructions.

Transfer Case

The NP205 originally coupled to a TH350 has a male 27 spline input. The NP205 is a part time, cast iron transfer case with a figure eight front bolt pattern configuration. This assembly was used in 1971-79 vehicles.

The NP205 originally coupled to a SM465 4 speed manual transmission has a male 10 spline input. The NP205 is a part time, cast iron transfer case with a figure eight front bolt pattern configuration. This assembly was used in 1971-84 vehicles.

The transfer case will need to be machined to accept the larger diameter input bearing that is supplied with this kit.

Transmission

This adapter kit is designed for exclusive use with the GM TH400 automatic transmission in 2wd output of 4.5" stickout. The TH400 has a case length of 24.250" and a "Texas-shaped" oil pan underneath it. The factory output shaft has a spline count of 32 spline and had various output lengths. This kit cannot be used with TH400 shafts that measure 1.5 or 2.5" stickouts. see kit
