How to Remove the Stock Exhaust on a 2015 Subaru STI
Share
Difficulty: Easy
Step 1

The first step to removing the exhaust would be to get the car in the air. Whether you use a lift or a jack, you still have to go under the car.
Step 2

After having the car properly in the air, it is time to unbolt the mid pipe from the exhaust system.
First unbolt the two mufflers on each side.
Each assembly has (2) 14mm nuts and 12mm bolts that hold the muffler to the midpipe.
Step 3

Since it is being held up by an exhaust hanger, it will not fall.
Go ahead and unbolt the junction between the cat and the mid pipe.
Please be sure to not lose the springs as you will be re-using them.
Step 4

After the midpipe is unbolted, it is now time for your handy friend to hold the pipe for you as you remove it from the hanger.
Spray some WD-40 or PB blaster to lubricate the hanger so you can slip it off the pipe.
Use pliers if you need to.
Step 5

Since the midpipe is gone, the mufflers are free to be removed now.
These bulky items are not that heavy but is quite bulky so be careful.
Spray the hangers with WD-40 or PB Blaster so you are able to remove them.
Use pliers if you need to.
Repeat for the other side.
Then the exhaust is off!
After Conmpleting the removal of the exhaust, you are now ready for the aftermarket exhaust install.
