How to Install the Perrin Silicon Intake Hose on a Subaru BRZ

This write up shows the process of installing an intake hose on the Subaru BRZ and Scion FR-S. It also shows how to remove the sound generator tube since the intake will be much louder after and the tube doesn't have an output for the sound generator.

Step 1

To begin the installation, you must remove the stock rubber intake hose.

Loosen the 3 factory hose clamps and 1 compression clamp on the factory intake tube.

Step 2

With a 90 degree pick, separate the rubber hose from the plastic vacuum tube. Do so carefully because it may be seized over time.

Step 3

Repeat process with sound generator tube to inlet hose.

Carefully remove the stock intake tube from intake pipe and throttle body.

Step 4

Located near the battery tray, disconnect the sound generator hose from the 90 degree plastic junction.

Step 5

With the 10mm socket, remove the two bolts securing the sound generator tube.

You should now be able to snake out the sound generating system.

Using the Perrin supplied plug, install on the 90 degree junction. Recommended to secure with the factory compression clamp.

Step 6

Make sure to install the hose clamps first. Have the hose clamps with the tighten screw to right side of the vehicle.

Install the Perrin intake hose, throttle body side first.

Step 7

Insert the plastic vacuum port and then secure with factory compression clip.

Adjust the Perrin tube with minimal tension on the hose and then tighten clamps.

Step 8

With lighter components and better air flow, you should definitely see the difference in the car's power band.

The replacement of the stock intake tube gets rid of the resonance areas in the air intake system. Direct air intake means that the motor will make more horsepower and better throttle response.
