How to Install a Rear Cusco Strut Bar on a Subaru BRZ

Difficulty: Easy

Step 1

Step 1Step 1Step 1

Before proceeding to the next step, make sure the car is on the ground and the parking brake is up.

Start by removing all of the trunk liners and carpet. Since our BRZ did not come with factory strut bars, all we had to do was remove the linings.

After removing all of the liners, go ahead and remove the factory strut bolts.

Step 2

Step 2Step 2Step 2

After taking the stock nuts off, carefully place the strut bar in the trunk, with the holes lining up on the mounts of the strut bar.

Since the this Cusco strut bar came with replacement nuts, you have a choice of staying with OEM or using the Cusco Ones.

We chose to use the Cusco nuts just because it came with the kit and also it matches the bar accents.

Step 3

Step 3Step 3Step 3

Before threading the strut nuts on, loosen the bolt that is holding the mounts to the bar itself. That way the bar will fall into place naturally.

Once the bar is settled in, go ahead and carefully thread on the nuts on the strut mounts.

Step 4

Step 4Step 4Step 4

Once the nuts are threaded on completely, go ahead and take a wrench to it to torque it down. Then refer to your factory service manual for actual torque specs.

After torquing the strut nuts down, go ahead and tighten the hex bolts on the strut bar as well.

Step 5

Step 5Step 5

Once everything is tight, place that majestic Cusco sticker at the very center of the bar.

Now your install is essentially complete. You just have to return all of the trunk liners back in the car.

Then Once that's all done, stand back and enjoy your new bar.
