Bottom Mount Your T25/T28 Turbo On a KA24DE Engine

We recently turbo'd up FRSportCat's S14 240SX KA24DE engine with over 100,000 miles with the S15 Spec-R T28 Turbo / T28 Bottom Mount Manifold / Tomei SR T28 elbow combo. Before installing the new turbo onto the engine, the manifold, turbo exhaust housing, and Tomei elbow were all sent to a thermal coating facitlity for ceramic coating, which reduces component surface temperatures by up to 50% and under the hood temperature by up to 33%!  This is crucial to reducing thermal issues for components near the manifold & turbo.

The ceramic coated turbo, manifold, and elbow is assembled with the oil drain line installed.

The center cartridge needs to be reclocked slightly to position the oil and coolant inlets/outlets correctly for the KA motor.  Loosen the compressor and turbine housing bolts so you can rotate the center cartridge.  Rotate the center cartridge so the oil inlet is pointing directly up in relation to the ground and the coolant return is facing towards the block, as shown in the image below.

Test fit the turbo onto the engine to make sure the turbo is oriented properly.  The oil feed into the turbo should point up, the wastegate actuator rod should bolt directly onto the wastegate flapper, and the compressor housing outlet should be directly away from the engine.  This allows you to install a Greddy Suction Kit later on with ease.  Remember to tighten your housing bolts after test fitting!

A new copper exhaust gasket is used to replace the stock graphite / paper gasket.
